Ms. Snip: How much money do you have?
Ms. Snipe: What? How is that any of your business?
Ms. Snip: Well, it’s just that we have been friends for a long time and I wondered if you could lend me some money.
Ms. Snipe: Is there anything Wrong? Are you sick?
Ms. Snip: No, I just want to run for a government office and someone told me you couldn’t do that unless you were rich or had backers. So, I thought you might back me.
Ms. Snipe: What do you know about the government, public office or politics?
Ms. Snip: Well, about as much as some already in office. More than a lot of them. And you can do pretty much whatever you want. Look at Big Crybaby (BC). Don’t want to show your taxes? Then just say no. Want to get rich? Just keep your business and then, if you are in office, people will choose your business to buy from. Want to make up stories? Fine, no one is brave enough to call you on it.
Ms. Snipe: BC may be able to hide things and refuse to do the right thing but not everyone in the government can do that.
Ms. Snip: Well, there are other perks. Officials obviously have time to write books, lots of them do. They have better health care and, it seems that they get to travel, don’t have to pay for all their meals, have lots of minions to do the daily grunt work like answering phone calls, emails and letters.
Ms. Snipe: Some of that is true but There are downsides.
Ms. Snip: As there are to everything, I know. But, if the downsides get to be too much, I’ll just resign. Then I can get a great pension, health care for life and a solid ‘in’ to do some lobbying. All my contacts would already be in place and I hear it pays very well.
Ms. Snipe: Listen to you, nowhere did you mention public service, what you could do to make the country safer, renew the American Dream. There are millions of people in this country who don’t have enough to eat, who can’t go to a doctor for any health needs – major or minor. There are collapsing bridges, roadways and city structures in disrepair. Some school buildings are in such bad shape they should be condemned but instead children are in classes in them regularly. EGAD, I am seeing so much that could be done which is not supported by lobbyists or elected officials.
Ms. Snip: Well, maybe they mean to work on those things but get sidetracked.
Ms. Snipe: Sure, sidetracks might include: Money, self-interest, money, outside influences, money, kowtowing to BC, money, re-election, money, a wall, money, etc.
Ms. Snip: So does that mean you don’t want to contribute to my campaign?
Ms. Snipe: Does that really require an answer??
