Ms. Snip: What do you think of the mid-term results? Will things be any different? Should I worry about my 401K? Will I lose my healthcare? Should I get a gun and register it for conceal carry. There are so many things that have been threatened. Will the borders be wide open for anyone? Both parties claim victory, who can I believe? Why are polls reported with so many divisions? Seems to me that adds to the decisive atmosphere of the country. White men or black men/ white women or black women/ business women or housewives/ small business owners or hourly wage employees/ college educated or without college/ low contributor campaigns or campaigns supported by major contributors. Who do I believe when some report voter fraud and others report voter disqualification. Why are we hearing nothing but same old party line from elected officials. Do they do anything besides raise money and run for re-election?
Ms. Snipe: Whoa, whoa. Take a breath. I agree that theses are troubling times and your questions seem to be based on the reports and rumors filling the airways. The majority of these things could be cleared up with a bit of clear truthful communication. Unfortunately, there seems to be an absence of truth, compromise and respect in the current political scene. Often it seems the only focus in Washington is money, money, money. Seems our only option is to communicate with our elected officials with questions and concerns. We should demand proof of the statements of campaigns and speeches. We should make our feelings known and encourage truth and transparency in all communications. We must make those phone calls, write those letters and emails, question any and all those statements which challenge credulity. Voice your concerns, communicate those things that you agree with and those you don’t. By all means vote but do not see that as your only responsibility in the current culture of your country.
Ms. Snip: You seem to expect a lot from those of us who are concerned about the current atmosphere in DC.
Ms. Snipe: I expect all elected officials to do their jobs and the rest of us to hold them accountable. They are our employees. As I recall, Snip, you once aspired to be a manager, here’s your chance to behave as one and get things moving. Imagine the country as your department and all, yes ALL, elected officials as your employees. Yes, even BC, he isn’t the dictator he aspires to be. Expect, no, command them all to live up to the responsibilities of their job. Encourage your friends, family, acquaintances to do the same.
