MS. SNIP: Did you know that Saturday, September 14, 2019 had been declared “Guns and Gods Day”? I believe it was so named by the group known as ‘Guns and Gods’.
MS. SNIPE: OH MY. Another group dedicated to themselves. To me, maybe no one else, but to me — this sounds like more need for attention. The internet with its unfettered and unfiltered social media sites seems to invite attention seeking people and groups. The Big Crybaby is an example of the needy narcissist looking for validation. But, really? Guns and Gods? The ridiculous fight over gun control has too many combatants who have seem to have misunderstood the phrase and believe it to be ‘Guns ARE Gods’.
MS. SNIP: It makes me sad that people are so gullible that they will believe anything the NRA and its purchased politicians tell them. No one is going to conduct midnight raids on homes across the country to confiscate firearms.
MS. SNIPE: I agree. Some of the arguments against laws for gun control are laughable. And, like cars; medical professionals; teachers; boats; businesses just to name a few, to be considered legal, firearms should meet certain standards, be legally purchased and licensed. No one can justify the ownership of military weapons to for non-military use. And, those inane arguments about the ‘right to bear arms’ is all encompassing simply do not justify ownership and use of assault weapons any more than it justifies ownership and use of things like hand grenades, rocket launchers.
MS. SNIP: That reminds me of a sign I saw on the side of a pick-up truck. I snapped a picture of it because it was so unsettling and I felt like people wouldn’t believe it if I simply told them.
MS. SNIPE: Wow. That brings a whole new questionable mentality. What might this person have been thinking? If a rented gun is used in an illegal act, is the owner/renter responsible? Drink too much at a bar and drive afterward, the bartender can be responsible if you are involved in an accident. Why wouldn’t this “business” also be liable? Rentals can be quite useful at times. You might rent a car when one is needed but certainly not for a bank job or a drive-by. Any car you rent is licensed. To rent a car you must show proof of your driver’s license.
MS. SNIP: It’s just another example of people pushing the limits. Why does anyone oppose background checks and licensing? Why is it that they oppose curtailing of sales of military style weapons?
MS. SNIPE: I’m sorry but I cannot fathom any reason. Hunters should be allowed to have appropriate weapons for their activities, which by the way are regulated. You need a license to hunt and fish, specific seasons are designated in order to control overkilling. Seems animals are better protected than human beings. Weapons used by legitimate hunters are designed for that purpose. But the design of an AK-47, an assault rifle, a machine-gun, a bump stock lends itself to one purpose only – to kill people. The only conclusion I can draw is that the money taken in by the manufacturers and sellers is influencing them and in turn the NRA and the politicians who are supposed to keep the country and its people safe.
MS. SNIP: It’s a sad day when an elected official, especially the orange one, is more beholden to money and NRA influence than to the responsibilities of the jobs.
MS. SNIPE: A cowardly Senate led by an aging BC loyalist is ignoring the will of the people by refusing to even present bills for consideration. And, the ridiculous reason he states by saying he wants to be sure that it will be signed if passed. It is not the job of the Senate to present only Oval Office/pre-approved legislation. And the idea that the members are ‘afraid’ of the party leader if they don’t go along with every insanity is ludicrous. We deserve better leaders.
MS. SNIP: How does this happen. Why do influential parties and media pundits not remind the public daily about what is keeping us from making any progress on real problems and situations?
MS. SNIPE: The easiest way to deflect the question of gun control laws is to create other controversies and that has become an art form in the current administration. Just think of all the things which don’t get much play – destruction of environmental laws which were designed to ensure clean air and clean water. Insults to many foreign leaders – our allies are often demeaned while dictators of cruelty are lauded. The attitude of “I’ll do what I want and dare anyone to try to stop me”. The “You’re fired” mentality which has left us without heads of Cabinet Departments and a revolving door in the White House. Most telling is the systematic chopping away at anything accomplished by the previous president. That fact alone exemplifies the narcissism of the current BC. Think about when someone is accused of something but declares the accusations to be lies. Seems I’ve always heard those described as “Trumped Up Charges” – hmmm.
